Research at the Faculty of Arts

Research at the Faculty of Arts is organised in departments and research units. The websites of the various units offer detailed information about their specific research projects.

Bibliometrics and Academic Bibliography (Lirias)

For valorisation of academic research, the K.U.Leuven's Research Office has established a classification of academic publications, which can be used when applying for grants or project financing, as well as for national and international applications: see bibliometrics at K.U.Leuven.

The K.U.Leuven has created a digital academic bibliography tool called Lirias; this is essentially a document repository
to archive the research at the K.U.Leuven in a digital way. Lirias captures, stores, indexes, preserves, and distributes
digital research material of the K.U.Leuven.

Use the Lirias homepage (https://lirias.kuleuven.be/) to search the online Academic Bibliography for scientific publications of the Faculty's research units and individual reearchers.

Making a PhD at the Faculty of Arts

The Faculty of Arts offers doctoral education in all its research disciplines, leading to 15 possible doctoral degrees. Students from abroad are encouraged to make their PhD at the Leuven University; an English programme is offered throughout the doctoral training and the default language for a doctoral thesis is English (or a major academic language in the field of research).
